Running Shirt Rating: Finish at the 50 2018.

It’s the cheaper version of the wicking material.

Logo somewhat small and uninspired.

Has weird ass horse for logo.  Are there horses in this race, too?  Not sure.

Veterans Home Run 5k

Pawtucket, RI, September 3, 2016

Had a great first two miles.

Then had to walk for a bit.  Almost had the allergy / post nasal drip barfies.

Not a PR, but probably my best race of the year.  Legs felt great.  Hills weren't a problem at all.

Got to high five my family as I ran around the outfield at McCoy.  Also got to high five Paws at finish line.

8/10 would run again.

Training

5K next month.  By the ocean.  Should be good.

Following a *real* intermediate training plan this time instead of just my own screwing around.

Ow.

Also... Got any snacks?

Transitions

I feel strong... But I don't feel particularly fast lately.

Also.. Something always slightly hurts these days.  Not bad.  But I'm also never quite 100% anymore.

I wonder if that's just "Welcome to your 40s".

Heat

I've been breaking up the runs to deal with the heat.  After being unseasonably cool for a few weeks, it's now hot again.

Today - 2 miles this morning.  2 miles later tonight.

How will this affect my 10K training?

I don't know!

I'm still getting a big long run in on the weekends.

Out of Therapy

After about 6 weeks... I "graduated" from physical therapy last week.

I got a water bottle...  And a t-shirt!

We did not sign each other's yearbooks.  "Closing Time" did not play as I walked out the door.

The lesson here is that you need more stretching and warm-up time as you get older.

I'm on the wrong side of 30.

Rebuild Mode

I got 4 miles in yesterday.  Easily my longest run of 2014.

Everything feels... Better-ish?

Different parts hurt after a run with the new stride.

But not the same parts that I was going to PT for.

The shins and calves feel much different with the whole "not landing on my heels" thing.

Physical Therapy Report

PT Guy wants me to change my running stride so my feet aren't hitting so close together.

Have you ever tried to change your running stride?

It's awful.

Hip Pain

Life is good.  No complaints.  Just feeling a little... old.

I hurt my hip while running back in October and haven't really been able to get back to 100% since then.  I finally go and get it checked out last week.

Sports Medicine Guy gets me on the table and starts bending me all over the place.

Left leg goes all over the place.  Right hip is tight tight tight.

He thinks it's an IT Band / bursitis issue.

I'll be going to physical therapy twice a week for the next 6 - 8 weeks.  Referral form suggests "aggressive" physical therapy.

This could suck.

Pain Delay

Got 5 miles in last Saturday.

I was all proud of myself for not needing an Advil after.

Then I woke up the next day and felt it all at once.

Late Fall

Trying to stay healthy.

Picking it back up again before the bad weather gets here.

Feels good.

Mid-September Heat Wave

I had a crappy crappy run today.  No pace.  No tempo.  No intensity.

I lost most of August with vacation / urinary tract / sinus issues.  I still haven't gotten back to where I was before that.

The good news is that I've already run more miles in 2013 than all of 2012.

3 Miles a Day - Day 10

I kept the streak alive to double digits... But now my legs are toast.

I thought it would get a little easier at some point, but it never did.

I think I need a few days of rest.
